El objetivo del proyecto es revelar la historia oculta que yace bajo las aguas del Pantano de Sau, utilizando la fotografía como medio para preservar y compartir este patrimonio sumergido.
Cada objeto, cada estructura revelada cuenta una historia olvidada, conforma el relato y dibuja el mapa de un momento histórico que marcó toda la región. ¿Qué secretos guardan estos objetos? ¿A quién pertenecían? ¿Qué historias vivieron antes de verse sumergidos? El proyecto se imagina las respuestas a estas cuestiones, invitando a la reflexión sobre el paso del tiempo y la fragilidad de la memoria.
“Bajo el agua” pretende no solo zambullirse en la historia de Cataluña, sino también generar conciencia sobre la importancia de preservar nuestro patrimonio cultural en tiempos de cambio climático y crisis ambiental.
The project aims to reveal the hidden history lying beneath the waters of the Sau Swamp, using photography as a means to preserve and share this submerged heritage.
Each object, each revealed structure tells a forgotten story, shaping the narrative and mapping out a historical moment that marked the entire region. What secrets do these objects hold? Who did they belong to? What stories did they live before being submerged? The project imagines the answers to these questions, inviting reflection on the passage of time and the fragility of memory.
«Underwater» not only seeks to dive into Catalonia’s history but also to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our cultural heritage in times of climate change and environmental crisis.
